About PBT
Travelling in India is by no means a small feat. The country huge in size, is home to over 40 different languages, has variety of religions and has so many incredible rich cultures, that new discovery awaits the adventurer. In the distance the Himalayas pose majestically. It would become a privilege to honour these superb mountains, with two motorcycle journeys.
The first journey began in New Delhi riding north to the Punjab and the Golden Temple at Amritsar. From here the route goes north to Srinagar, capital of Kashmir. Srinagar still attractive has old-world Islamic charm and through the winter shroud, stunning Mosques unveil their architectural beauty. Leaving Srinagar the road journey’s up towards Kargil. From Kargil the terrain transforms to rugged arid mountainous landscape, all the way to the old silk-route trading post of Leh, capital of Ladakh.
Second journey again started in New Delhi heading towards Shimla, an old colonial winter retreat. It was used during the Raj, by British Army and Civil Officers to escape the ferocious heat of the Indian plains. Travelling the high roads, this journey brings you close to the Indian-Tibet (China) boarder as the route takes you through the Spiti Valley also known as 'Little Tibet' a mountainous region distinct for its Buddhists influence, which spreads across to and from Tibet.
Both journeys are astounding, the wilderness halted you in your track and a moment or two was required to contemplate the journey left behind, when immediately thoughts come to mind of the views in front.
