Purebiketours first motorbike show
15th Feb 2012

Barely four months remain before the start of our 3rd season in the Himalayas. We’ve taken our first modest steps in appearing at our very first motorbike show. On display will be inspiring photographs and video clips of our daring adventures from across the magnificent Himalayas and a great opportunity for us to share our amazing experiences of the high roads with you, together with some interesting insights.

Details on our indoor Stand number and times will be available as soon as we get them. Please keep checking back!

Unbelieveable Bhutan...
...all inclusive, brand new itinerary and now fantastic value!
8th December 2011

Small enchanted Kingdom of Bhutan way above the clouds in the far corner of the Himalayas they call the Dragons lair, has stayed true to its roots. Its culture, daily life and national dress are encouraged by the people and Government, to try keeping modernity at a distance, for now. This place is true to the saying “belongs to a bygone era”.

With a brand new itinerary and all inclusive features, Purebiketours have done it again with our Bhutan adventures coming of age, and importantly representing real value-for-money. Don’t worry it’s not a misprint. Compare our prices with other operators, not forgetting to check the riding days they offer.

Bhutan however is still very much protected from exploitation, and therefore our Royal Enfield motorcycle adventures in Bhutan are limited to small number of riders. A true once in a lifetime opportunity to ride through this amazing land from “West to East” and experience Himalayas unspoilt splendour, at an unbeatable price.

For those clients who don’t ride and don’t want to sit behind anyone, then why not take advantage and spoil yourself by glimpsing into Bhutan’s beautiful Himalayas in comfort of our support vehicle.

Going to the extreme!
21st November 2011

On our 2012 Trans Himalayas Expedition, we have introduced a brand new feature that will really get the old blood pumping with excitement. While our riders stay in Srinagar, Kashmir, they are going on another fantastic unforgettable journey, when they embark on the highest ski lift (gondola) in the world at Gulmarg (projected height 4124mts).

In 2010, we were the first and only UK motorcycle adventure company to take riders into the very heart of one of the most unspoilt and volatile regions in the world; globally known for its insurgency and extremist activities. But those first riders were made of substance and it was they and their tenacity that paved the way for future journeys, into this pristine raw land.

We were the first again in 2011 to travel into Kashmir, and on this occasion the tranquillity of Srinagar and especially Kashmir as a whole was stark contrast to previous years, and was extremely exhilarating.

In essence, these are extreme adventures and we believe in “nothing ventured - nothing gained”. Are you ready to rise to the challenge and journey where others fear to follow?

One man and his bike           What; no support?
1st October 2011

They say “start as you mean to go on” and from day one Purebiketours, our aim was clear. To be different from other operators - concentrate on our own objectives and evolve.

We don’t do tame - we play motorcycling adventures with lots of bite. Playing safe is sitting at home, with a cup of tea in your hand and watching National Geographic Channel and drooling.

One of our untamed intrepid adventurers is Alan Kemp, left his HD, no, not high definition something or another, but his Harley Davidson at home to come ride with us on our second 2011 Trans Himalayas adventure. His story is thus: for now...

“Holy Shit - I’m 60 next year.  How can I avoid the surprise birthday party Eve (my wife) will want to give me?”

So it was July 2010 when this flash of inspiration hit me, the landmark was more than a year away, but I knew I had to get the planning for the escape, done and sorted.

I was brought up on a diet of adventure and thrills, Edmund Hilary had officially opened my secondary school. In those days geography in schools was geography about travel and other countries. My love of travel was ignited in those halcyon days of the Empire.  When I joined the army, I joined it to see the world - after which it shrunk rather rapidly.  I do, however, love adventure motorcycling and have a list of places where I have been and places yet to go.

So with a boring day at work and the internet to help me, it was time to start planning.  I stumbled across this strange site for a firm called Pure Bike Tours during one inquiry, doing trips to India; they certainly looked as if they warranted further investigation.

And the result of those inquiries - the story of one slightly eccentric Englishman, one Nepali and two Indian lad’s on a trip around the North West of India on even more eccentric motorcycles, will be well worth reading. You will, however, have to wait until closer to Christmas 2011 when the package is done and loaded onto the web.

As a taster some photographs are already loaded onto Flickr at:

For the moment though; suffice to say I successfully evaded the surprise birthday party and had the benefit of a trip of a life-time to boot.  What more can a man ask for?

70 Year Old rides to the top of the world for the 3rd time...

Everyone here at Purebiketours is extremely delighted and would like to thank Graham Mitchell for celebrating his 70th birthday with us, just three days after riding to one of the highest motorable passes in the world – the Khardung La 5600m situated in the northernmost and sometimes inaccessible location of the Western Himalayas – Ladakh.

Riding individually, Graham along with his wife Gerti first rode with us in 2010 on our inaugural Trans-Himalaya expedition (spending his 69th birthday with us) and to see them cruise those fantastic mountainous roads the second time in 2011, was absolutely awesome.

Not for the faint hearted, for the going can be tough both physically and mentally, but the challenges bring their own rewards when you look back on your tracks to see where your journey has brought you.

Graham and Gerti were also part of our intrepid team who defiantly crossed army curfew in the troubled region of Kashmir in 2010; stark contrast to the peaceful place it was in 2011. And last-but-not-least we wish them both many more years of motorcycling adventures and from all of us here, thank them for having chosen Purebiketours as their adventure partner.

Inspiration to all budding motorcycle adventurers – check out Graham’s adventures through our Trans-Himalaya gallery...
